Out of the windows

Looking out of the window
as if gazing intently at a moving picture
whose portrait is
genuine, brimming with life
but seemingly motionless
all encased in a border
of sheer calmness and peace.

Trimmed grass wither and fallow
enduring and awaiting
the next trickle of sun rays
to penetrate the billowing cotton puffs
and descend from the seventh heaven
rejoicing each and every life beneath it.
Potted plants, mossy rocks,
looming buildings and towering trees
all sunken in the seas of silence
drown, petrified by the stagnant waters beyond
only to be released from their imprisonment spell
by a wisp of breath
from the refreshing wind
and a faint glimmer of radiance
from the glorious sun.

Very often
people walked by
making me question
the artificiality of the picture.
They set plenty of motion
and action.
They fill the portrait with sounds of joy and laughter,
breaking the quietness
and also dissembling the passiveness
of the atmosphere within.

As they walk,
they leave behind them
alluring trails of excitement and wonder
warming the earth within
beckoning me
convincing me
to enter the outside world
that is out of the windows
of this place of boredom.

Nothing to be amused: Just Sushi and Smoothie

Life is kinda short, but we can make it sweet and fun. We can occupy our time by enjoying doing things that we like. A few days before, I experimented on two fun and easy-to-do teeny weeny treats of my delight. Both of them turned out to be successful(to the fact that it is easy)-I considered these as an achievement because most guys like me are not fond of cooking and cooking for me only means preparing anything edible to stuff your stomach. I managed to prepare a conventional, Malaysian-style sushi and an enormous cup of banana milk smoothie. Okay, enough for the intro, I hereby present you the recipes for making delicious sushi and smoothie:

A Simple yet mouth-watering handmade sushi

What you need:

  • some wide seaweed (nori) sheets
  • Japanese calrose rice (cooked)
  • fresh lemon (per 3-5 sushi rolls)
  • a flexible sushi-making bamboo mat
  • strips of carrots and cucumbers
  • strips of fried eggs
Steps:
  1. Squeeze some lemon juice from a lemon cut half.
  2. Prepare some cooked calrose rice. Mix the cooled calrose rice with a few drops of lemon juice in a bowl. If you want your sushi to be more sour, mix more lemon juice into your rice. Normally 4-5 drops are enough for a roll of sushi. The rice is now soft enough for making sushi.
  3. Place the seaweed/ nori sheet on a bamboo mat. On one of the sides of the nori sheet, add the calrose rice mixed with lemon juice onto it. Flatten it evenly and make sure it only occupies not more than 1/3 of the nori sheet.
  4. Place the strips of carrots, cucumbers and fried eggs side by side on top of the added calrose rice. You can use other materials instead of these, for example strips of crab-meat stick or cheese and some fish eggs if you like.
  5. After all materials have been placed, roll the sushi by rolling the bamboo mat. Do apply much energy in rolling the sushi to prevent the materials inside from leaking out. Please be caution and do not loosen your grip when you hold on to the sushi until it is completely rolled into a cylindrical shape. If you fail to do so, your sushi will be ruined!
  6. When you are ready, gently remove the bamboo mat without spoiling your sushi's shape and place it on a clean slicing board. Using a sharp knife, slice it into equal sizes. The ones at the ends are usually misshapen but the ones at the center are those you want. Place it on a plate and your sushi is now ready to be served.

Tips:
  • Vinegar can be used to replace lemon juice
  •  Serve with green tea and season with the spicy wasabi or the Japanese soy sauce

A Simple yet Sophisticated Banana Milk Smoothie

What you need:

  • 1-2 bananas (per person)
  • Full cream Milk
  • Some ice cubes
  • A blender
Steps:
  1. Peel off the banana. Then cut it into small pieces. Depending on the size of the banana, determine the actual quantity of bananas required to produce the cup of smoothies. In this case, I used two small bananas to make a person's serving.
  2. Put the peeled banana pieces into the blender. Add about25-35ml of full cream milk and 4-5 ice cubes into the blender. Blend the ingredients altogether until it is completely crushed. Your smoothie is now ready to be served.

Still Waiting...

To those who wanted to know more about me, this is what I am currently doing. This is my present life.
It's been two months since SPM passed. I have been granted temporal freedom and no longer need to think about homework anymore. Everyday, I wake up feeling energetic and fresh even though I slept late every night. Maybe this is because I needn't have to think about my high school life which is full of endless burden due to the various poses held by me at the past few years. Although I did admit these poses had gave me countless of golden opportunities for my self-improvement and inner development, but I start to enjoy my life right now.
Well, it is very obvious that you may wonder what am I doing now. After the SPM examination, most of my friends go on working while others straight away go for their studies at A-levels in private college. Guess what, I did not do both. I planned to wait for the SPM results and use it to apply for scholarships to continue my studies. I am currently spending most of my time at home, monopolizing all house chores ranging from A to Z while being the private tuition teacher of my little brother. I am also learning how to ride motorbikes and drive cars. I am going for my driving tests at 15 of February. (Please pray for me!!!^^)

Due to my passion of being a doctor, and probably graduating as a specialist, I yearned to work in hospitals and if I have the chance, I wanted to go to a new environment to add my experience. Thanks to my aunt who works at a teacher in Penang, I got the opportunity to met the doctor who was in charge of this. After a brief meeting with him, I succeed in applying as a social worker at the famous Adventist Hospital starting two weeks later. Since they cannot let me handle patients, my task there is to help them in computer work. The details I will tell you in my next posts.

Having spending so long alone, I started to acquire some new hobbies. I still maintain my habit of reading newspapers but I started indulging myself in tonnes of English and Chinese novels that I have bought last year. One major change is that I started going to gyms for workouts. I also learned meditation myself and practice it everyday. I even start learning about how to read body languages and applying it in daily life. Once a while, I will go out with my friends for gatherings. I planned to acquire a music talent before, most probably learning how to play guitar. But until now, I haven't enroll in a music school yet. Without realistic actions, this plan may be a big step away from success. I tried to spend most of my time productively.

To summarize everything above, I am "still waiting" for my next plans while enjoying my life as a teen.
