Fun and Easy Ulu Lenggong Hot Springs Trip

Information:

Location: Ulu Lenggong, Baling

Accommodation: Chalet or Campsite

Transportation: Can be acccesed by car, bus or taxi

Entrance Fee: RM4 per person(adult), RM2 (children)

Operation Hours: Daily 24 hours

Yesterday, I and my friends went to Ulu Lenggong Hot Spring. Situated about 28 kilometres from Baling at the northern part of Kedah, this tourism recreational spot beholds one of Malaysia’s fantastical hot springs.

We rented a van and waited at SMK Pengkalan Lebaiman located not far from Taman Byford until the van arrives at 4 o’clock. There were there altogether 14 of us. It took around 1 and a half hours time before we reached Ulu Lenggong Hot Spring.

We paid the entrance fee and entered our destination. Inside the recreational park are pools of bubbling, warm water flowing from the spring. At here, you can immerse yourself into the various pools of warm water. There are altogether 5 pools of warm water of different temperatures ranging from 38 degree Celsius to a moderate high temperature of 40 degree Celsius.

Well, I have been to the Air Hangat Hot Springs before, but this is an exception to me. This is because the degrees of hotness of both hot springs are absolutely different. At first, it is very hard for me to adapt to the scalding hot water in the pool. What’s more, after observing people who initially immersed their feet withdrawing their reddish limbs away from the pools of hot water almost scared me to make an endeavour.

After watching all my other friends dipping their feet into the pools of warm water, I no longer hesitate and dared myself to try the feeling of having my feet surrounded by warm water. It is very excruciating at first, as I can feel the boiling hot water burning and peeling off my outer skin layer by layer. But after a few minutes, the numbness of my feet overpowered my other senses and I feel nothing but the relaxing sensation. (Guess what, I will tell you a hint: if you are not used to the heat, try the pool with the lowest temperature first a.k.a. the children’s pool. Although it may be a bit humiliating, but it really works, because it works perfectly for me!)

After having a relaxing dip at the warm water pool, we had our dinner at there. Our dinner is actually tidbits from the poolside stalls. The poolside stalls sell a variety of snacks such as burgers, ice-creams, carbonated drinks and other desserts like waffles and corn in cups. Outside the hot springs are roadside stalls that sell snacks such as fried bananas and traditional Malay crackers. One can also pay a cheap fee of RM5 to camp inside the hot springs. Having a picnic or a barbeque is a fun idea. The facilities in the hot springs are complete with toilets, dormitories and chalets. The air inside the hot springs is fresh and the scenery is serene and harmonious. You can find peace in your soul and your mind inside there. We went back at 9.30pm via van and reached SMK Pengkalan Lebaiman at eleven. This shall be one of our memorable events after SPM.

My Grand Return

It’s been more than two weeks since the gruelling SPM examination came to a halt. Over these days I had been living aimlessly. I felt that I was wasting my time even though I could have done many things. I am now a freeman finally. However, I still fail to fully utilize my time completely. What a shame! What’s worse, I am not sure about what I am doing these days!

During these two weeks, I only hang out with my friends for a few days only. The rest of the time was spent in my house. Well, I tried to have some time with myself by sealing myself away from others. I tried not to surf the internet, not to phone or send messages with others. I cannot reason the rationale behind my odd acts but I understand that deep inside my heart, I want a brief period of inner peace. I am trying to allocate more time for myself after eleven years of busy school life. Separating myself from the world for sure makes me lonely, but I used this as a tool to understand myself more clearly and give me an opportunity to decide my future. After these few days of ‘daydreaming’, I finally decided what I am going to do next. I decided to end this solitude, return to my blog, return to my friends and start off a new life of adventures. So, here am I, new and fresh, ready to share my stories of life.

We reached there late in the afternoon after a long 4 and a half hours drive by car. We took the road from Ipoh twisting around treacherous mountain routes and went our way straight towards the peak of the mountain at Brinchang. Along the way, we stopped halfway at Green View Garden, one of the famous agro farms in Cameron Highlands.

The agro farm has a shop that sells various processed food products and scrumptious dishes made from fresh strawberries.

There are places inside that lets you sit and relax while enjoy its strawberry products.

There are an array of vegetable farms that grows a variety of vegetables and fruits using hydroponic method.

At noon, we have lunch at Ngow Kee Restaurant.

We ate its famous rojak, beancurd with minced meat, fried dragon whiskers (a type of vegetable), and fried omellette egg.
After that, we visit Ee Feng Gu Apiary, a bee farm located not far from the restaurant.

The bee farm holds the largest indoor maze in Malaysia. It even breeds hordes of honey bees. The main product here is bee honey.

The bees are bred in crates with holes and are free to fly around the farm. The bees are small honey bees that are harmless to people.

Not long after that, we visited the Cameron Highlands Sungei Palas BOH Tea Plantation. It is one of the biggest tea plantation sites in Cameron Highlands.

Take the bush walk to the BOH tea centre and enjoy the mesmerising landscape around you. Ascend the stone stepped path up towards the BOH tea centre.

Have a cup of tea and enjoy the picturesque sceneries while taking your time on the tea centre cafe.

Not far from the cafe is the Sungei Palas Visitor Centre or a small BOH tea factory.

Inside the factory you can see various tea making processes and take a glimpse of how a tea leaf is being processed.
