In this fast-paced 21st century epoch, where modern technological inventions and digital devices ruled the hearts and filled the minds of most of the Earth citizens, the presence of powerful leaders is still required in almost every aspect, every field and every sector humans thrive in. Despite the burgeoning advancements in Science and Technology that made our lives easier and comfortable ever since the last decade, most of us cannot resist from enlisting and depending on leaders to drive team members to complete a specific task or mission. Hence, a leader is important for every organizations and occasions.
However, being a leader is not as easy as it seems, especially when it is at the future-in this highly developed 21st century. A leader of the future or a leader of tomorrow must posses certain powerful personalities and qualities that would make him truly outstanding and worthy to fit his crown. For brief, a leader of tomorrow should be a person who is a good goal-setter, a great decision-maker, sensitive and adapt to the dynamic changes of the environment, cooperative, open-minded, knowledgeable, as well as being helpful.
In my opinion, a leader of tomorrow must be a leader who is good at setting short term goals and long term visions. A wise man once said, “Leadership is the ability to translate vision into reality”. True as gold, leaders are those who dream about their achievements and ended up achieving them. Look at the world’s greatest leaders of history to date: Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, Martin Luther King Jr., Adolf Hitler and Barrack Obama. Their success started from scratch, probably the simplest yet the wildest dream they ever had. Using their ability, they transformed their dreams which were visions that they long to accomplish into more realistic, concrete steps to raid success.
Besides that, a leader of tomorrow must also be a great decision-maker at all times. Leadership is an endless chessboard. Every move that we take is a potent risk, and every risk is a decision. As a leader, he or she must be extremely meticulous and wise in making decisions because bad decisions which involves sacrificing your ‘checkers’ can end up with adverse effects. However, a leader who is destined to rule the future world must also be open minded and rational in making decisions. He must not let his emotions control him by having a good EQ.
Other than this, a leader of the future must be a person who is sensitive and able to adapt to changes that happen in the surroundings. The working environment around us may not be the same all the time and may vary depending on certain circumstances. A leader should not be caught offhanded, unable to react to his dynamic working environment, but should be able to cope with the environment by his own will and conquer it. He must fully utilize the potential he had and
In addition, being cooperative is another aspect of a leader of tomorrow. From my past experiences, cooperation or teamwork is crucial in determining the success or failure of a mission. With plenty of cooperation, things can be done easily and efficiently. However, without proper teamwork from a team, many tasks are predetermined to fail.
“Knowledge is the power of success”, being a leader of tomorrow must be at least full of basic knowledge and raw information regarding the matters handled by him. Finally, a leader must be helpful to others. A good leader is not a cocky, arrogant and egoistic person who cares nothing for his followers. A leader of tomorrow must be humble, kindhearted and willing to help his followers who are in distress with all the knowledge and skills he had. By doing this, he will gain respect from others.
In conclusion, a leader of tomorrow must posses the above qualities to become a successful leader. Being a leader of tomorrow is a burden as he must try his best to bring about good benefits for mankind. However, as the next generation of the 21st century, I would try my best to take it as a challenge and accomplish this prophecy.
